Here’s what we do know about Hunter Biden’s laptop

From the start, the revelation that former Vice President Joe Biden’s son may have an affair with a student on a university computer was political dynamite. The daughter of President Trump’s senior adviser, Steve Bannon, happened to be Hunter Biden’s roommate.

There’s no way anyone could possibly know who took the computer, who transferred the files or what was written on it. What the dang “bathroom-shaped case” pic from Hunter Biden’s Facebook page is supposed to mean.

As part of a lengthy legal battle over access to all the pages in the computer, obtained by Judicial Watch in an open records request, the government spent six hours poring over some of the screenshots. Taken from desktop computer, they looked pixelated, with what the judges said appeared to be some lightly dressed pages on them.

“JW has never found a connection between any stolen data and a check check bounce,” the government told the judges.

Now that that cover story is out in the open, what we know and don’t know about the laptop is in much sharper focus. From what we know so far, it appears Hunter Biden did not take it himself. And it doesn’t appear Hunter Biden bought it for $850 because it’s in good working condition. But there’s a serious silver lining. As we look forward to the trial of the laptop, let’s take a look back at what we do know.

Hunter Biden: He likes Shakespeare

The writings of Shakespeare, Dante, Scott Joplin, and other modern writers can help you read more clearly. When his computer crashed, Hunter Biden didn’t clean it out by using a toothbrush. He read it.

When his college computer crashed, he didn’t clean it out by using a toothbrush. He read it. “To read the good one with pleasure, having leisure,” reads Dante’s “Divine Comedy.” In a passage from the treatise that laid the groundwork for the apocalypse, Shakespeare tells us “Beware of discord. There be dragons, and men like wolves.”

Facebook: He posts good photos

When three of his friends post a photo to Facebook, Hunter Biden usually appears. He might say a photo is funny, he might comment on it — and yes, he might also like it. That doesn’t always mean they like it, though. If it’s a picture of family, he might choose his own image and one taken a few minutes earlier. For the World Series, he’ll be happy to see his children, the Bronx Zoo panda cubs, and a selfie he took on the same plane as vice president Joe Biden and Secretary of State John Kerry. He “liked” a photo of the Da Vinci Code, too.

Trump Institute: Hunter Biden dropped out after two semesters

Despite sharing space at the Trump Institute, Hunter Biden seemed determined to graduate. He attended the two semesters he needed to, saving up money on many nights out on the town. He presented himself as a “highly successful financial manager,” though the Institute posted all of his transcripts online. Then he bailed on the final semester. It doesn’t appear to have been due to an academic failure. It’s a “personal or family issue,” according to the U.S. attorney.

The U.S. attorney’s office wouldn’t tell us how his parents came to own the Trump Institute in the first place. We have learned that the Bank of New York Mellon Corporation foreclosed on the company in 2008. The name may have been changed, but to this day a listing for the firm still links it to a Chase Manhattan Bank branch in the New York City suburb of Sayville, Long Island.

Later, the website of the company was taken down and a message appeared on it with the motto “We’re not going out of business.”

Reference books: Did he get a tryout for “Thing” with The Beatles?

When was Hunter Biden’s breakthrough? The potential jail time he could get for downloading porn before using his connection to illegally access the university’s computer is predicated on it. So let’s set aside the fact that a teenage Biden, distracted by hormones, may have had more than the adult Bensons could ever imagine.

No, the real question is what it was he was doing with his computer?

A scan of the backup copy from the university’s hard drive backs up the message from the laptop’s IP address to Hunter Biden’s Facebook account. He was
