Jimmy Kimmel is known for his biting social commentary, so it’s no surprise the late-night host tackled President Trump’s secret Chinese bank account in the most dramatic way possible — with a trip to Disneyland.
The mock vacation came after Newsweek reported that the president has in the past used a Chinese bank to receive personal loans from entities related to President Xi Jinping of China, drawing comparisons to other high-profile politicians who have borrowed money from companies controlled by their fellow world leaders. But as Kimmel showed, there’s a big difference between China’s President Jinping and others.
Trump “doesn’t have a lot of connections,” the host told his audience, “he doesn’t have a lot of friends,” he said, “And it’s mostly because people think that once he gets elected, he’s going to get impeached.”
As part of the sordid trip, Kimmel joined friends who included Jim O’Brien, a comedian and best-selling author, and Lisa Lin, a writer and blogger, as they made their way through the Disneyland’s Matterhorn. They dressed in matching costumes and, among other things, showed off some of Trump’s questionable priorities by dressing as the Trumps and visiting the actual White House. After they were tricked into a pickup game of basketball in the National Basketball Association’s actual practice facility, the friends flew off on a private jet.
Unlike those who usually don’t play with friends, Trump’s team played his personal court — a tribute to the infamous tiff between Trump and Hillary Clinton, Kimmel said.
And there’s not even a dime worth of difference between them, Kimmel said.
“[Trump] is the end of the line — every time they have to go to that line they’re signing their own death sentence,” he said.
What made it even worse, Kimmel said, was the fact that so many people stood beside them.
“I am going to say one thing,” he said. “I will tell you a secret — which is that is a lot of people standing around! … It’s more people in high places and low places, ever! ”
