Sen. Joe Biden, a potential Democratic candidate for president, called President Trump “one of the most racist presidents we’ve had in modern history” at an exclusive fundraiser for a New Hampshire group Tuesday night.
“Donald Trump is not a president,” the former vice president told the crowd of about 800 people at a private residence in New Hampshire. “He’s just a danger to the whole country.”
The New Hampshire Democratic Party, which hosted the event, wouldn’t release the names of the invited guests.
In remarks to reporters after the event, Biden defended his fiery comments.
“What I said today in no way implies that I’m with this president on anything,” Biden said. “I just said that our president is a moron,” Biden said. “I’m not saying I’m going to run. I’m not even thinking about it. But I have a feeling that one of these days I’m going to have to have a talk with him.”
The DNC took the opportunity to underscore that statement in a tweet: “Meet Joe Biden. He just made the strongest statement on Trump to date.”
