Kelly Rowland is shaking it off for one last remix for “Bad Hair,” even though it was her hair style that made her famous.
The singer was cast as the head of a girl group in the ’80s music video by Ziggy Marley.
Rowland says that it was an honor to show her natural hair from head to toe.
“It was my beauty first, and my hair just follows,” she told People.
The song is the latest single off of her latest album, Back to Love, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and is her first album since 2008’s Here I Am.
According to People, “Bad Hair” is one of two disses on the album. The other is titled “Move and Skillet.”
A portion of the proceeds of the song, which is available for streaming via Amazon Music Unlimited, will benefit organizations supporting Wardens of the Forest and The Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Rowland said that she feels “bad hair” is such a universal message that she wanted to open a dialogue about being resilient.
“It’s something that could relate to anyone because everything has been on its way up and it’s just coming to the end of its journey. You’re going to have your moment of bad hair days, so you better get it over with,” she said.
