WASHINGTON — Addressing the Washington Economic Club on Tuesday night, President Trump mocked Vice President Joe Biden, saying the veep once said “that climate change is probably one of the biggest hoaxes perpetrated on the American people.”
“But when the scientists got to you, they realized, ‘Oh, he’s not that bad,’” Mr. Trump told the 150 or so business executives in attendance at the upscale W Hotel, located just steps from the White House.
“For example, because he’s really smart. When they finally found out that he might be a human being, they started saying he wasn’t nearly smart as we thought. It’s like, ‘Donald, you’re a dummy.’ And that’s the joke,” Mr. Trump said.
Mr. Trump also mocked Mr. Biden for wearing horn-rimmed glasses. “Is he trying to look presidential?” Mr. Trump said, as the crowd laughed and applauded.
The president also challenged European leaders to make a higher economic bet on America.
“They’re very rich people. But they’re making about one-eighth the investment in jobs that we’re making in jobs, in factories, in factories that we need,” Mr. Trump said. “That is a fact, Mr. President. Believe me.”
