The Steelers dropped their second consecutive game, falling to the Chicago Bears, 21-14, on Sunday afternoon, at Soldier Field. Pittsburgh’s defense was underwhelming again, allowing the Bears to advance the ball at will at times throughout the contest. The Bears’ good fortune carried over into the game’s end, as they punched it in for the winning score on a third and goal play. Their three-game winning streak now all but guarantees a spot in the playoffs for Chicago.
The win also snapped the Bears’ three-game losing streak, providing a welcome boost to a club that was in danger of falling into the NFC North basement. The win boosted Chicago’s record to 4-2, one game behind the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North. But more important, it allowed the Bears to force a showdown in Chicago next weekend, when they’ll try to end the Green Bay Packers’ undefeated run at home. With the Lions losing to the Seahawks on Sunday night, the Bears are now the only two-loss team left in the NFC.
